Forensic officers were then seen to be removing evidence bags throughout the week.
However, Police Scotland have now said their investigation "didn't find anything".
On Thursday, they told Lanarkshire Live that they were at the property as part of an "ongoing investigation.
They also said that there was no "threat to the public" but they were unable to comment further.
One concerned neighbour told Lanarkshire Live : "Police are on the scene and it appears forensics are also there with a tent set up in the property's garden.
"We don't understand what is happening as yet."
Another said: "I've been sitting watching this unfold and police have been in and out all week.
"We can only assume they are digging in the garden and we have seen police leaving with what looks like evidence bags."
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Enquiries at Welsh Drive didn’t find anything and no criminality has been established.
"Enquiries at the address are complete and police activity will conclude today."
