It was nice while it lasted but it didn't last long and the severity of defeat left no one in any doubt.

Brighton had suggested it might be a second Premier League victory and the third win on the bounce but within little more than half an hour on home turf starry dreams had become a nightmare.

Mario approach?

Newcastle United are one of three Premier League clubs to approach Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario - according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo.

The Portuguese international is out of favour under Antonio Conte, and the Serie A outfit are looking for a fee in the region of £13m for the 27-year-old.

Leeds and West Ham are also credited with an interest.
