Police probing the death of PC Andrew Harper have been given another 24 hours to detain 10 males who were arrested on suspicion of murder.

The suspects - aged between 13 and 30 - were arrested within an hour of the incident near Sulhamstead, Berkshire late Thursday night.

Police were granted an additional 36 hours to detain them on Saturday, and on Monday announced they were given another 24 hours.

None of the males has been charged.

A spokesperson said: “Thames Valley Police has been granted permission to further detain ten males in relation to the death of PC Andrew Harper in Berkshire

“Ten males aged between 13 and 30 were arrested on suspicion of murder within an hour of the incident happening on Thursday.

“Last night we sought a 24 hour extension to their custody, and this was granted at Reading Magistrates’ Court.

"Our investigation continues."
