Typhoon Hagibis has been labelled as one of the most ferocious weather events in the country's recent history.

The Japan Times is reporting that at least two people have been killed and more than 60 people injured.

Five people, including two children, were also injured after a tornado struck houses in Ichihara City, Chiba. Two are also missing after a landslide.

More than 7,000 homes are without power in the greater Tokyo area and mass evacuations have been ordered in Shizuoka, Tokyo, Gunma, and Wakayama prefectures.

The storm has also meant that two matches in the Rugby World Cup have been cancelled.

While Sunday's clash between Japan and Scotland in Yokohama could yet be called off depending on the destruction caused by Hagibis. You can follow the latest developments from Japan here.
