CHELSEA got the bulk of their summer transfer business done early with the signings of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner – with both targets secured by early June.
With these two, the Blues have brought in two very exciting players who will not only help them immensely next season, but will also become very popular with fantasy football managers.
What could Timo Werner bring to your fantasy football team?
While Ziyech will be centre of Chelsea’s creativity in the upcoming campaign, Werner will likely be their main attacking outlet.
The German striker was one of the most sought after players in Europe last season with Liverpool and Inter Milan said to be looking at him closely, so Chelsea pulled off quite a coup by getting him.
The former RB Leipzig front-man was a real menace in the Bundesliga last season, netting 28 goals to finish narrowly behind Robert Lewandowski as the German top-tier’s top goalscorer.
He notched 34 goals across all competitions and was regularly Leipzig’s star man, which bodes well for Dream Team fans looking for a mighty source of points.
In fact, by using WhoScored’s rating’s system and Dream Team’s points metric, we worked out that Werner would’ve picked up an incredible 344 points on the game last season, putting him comfortably ahead of our top-placed Raheem Sterling who tallied 279 points.
It’s also worth noting that his 28 league goals is five more than Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy’s total of 23.
At this early stage, we’re still not sure how much Werner will be priced on Dream Team for the coming season, but we can have some fun trying to speculate his value using similar players on the game as a rough guideline.
Harry Kane, for example, started last season at £7m and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was £6m, although we reckon someone new to the Premier League like Werner will be a little less than these two, possibly £5m.
When does fantasy football start for the new season?
We anticipate that registration for Dream Team will open around mid-August – I know, it’s a quick turnaround!
It’s completely free to play as ever and there’ll be a hefty jackpot up for grabs.
The season itself will start on September 12th.
