The man died at a Remembrance Sunday service. Visitors at Caernarfon Castle in North Wales heard the man screaming for help just before midday.

Those attending the service were quickly ushered off the premises.

One witness told North Wales Live that ambulance staff who had been stationed at the Y Maes were first on the scene with police.

They said two more ambulances followed shortly after.

Around an hour later an air ambulance landed in a nearby car park.

The castle was quickly cordoned off with visitors being told to leave the area.

All entrances were blocked with a cordon put in place from the Y Maes, the town square, to the castle moat.

A witness added how emergency services went into nearby local shops and asked staff to pull down the blinds.

This was a request made while the body was being removed from the castle.

Elegi Gray-Thomas, who runs a cafe opposite the castle, told North Wales Live: "It is very sad to hear."
