Ricky Gervais pokes fun at himself with hilarious bath photo and unrecognisable throwback to his ’80s singing career

RICKY, YER FACE!

RICKY Gervais poked fun at himself with a hilarious bath photo and a throwback snap from his 80s singing career on Twitter.

The comic shared a post from a fan who placed the snaps side-by-side, and asked: "How did that happen?"

The snap on the left saw a young Ricky, who is now 59, posing for a serious photo as he tried to launch his pop career as the lead singer in Seona Dancing.

The good-looking youngster was immaculately groomed with short hair, toned arms, and a hint of a tan.

In the photo on the right, taken around 30 years later, Ricky is semi-submerged in a bathtub with a goofy grin on his face.

To the question they had asked, "how did this happen?" one person replied: "I don't understand the question ... who is that?"

Another person quipped: "Age and booze"

One more fan typed: "Many years of dedication, man hours, sacrifice, blood sweat and tears of mastering the art of NOT GIVING A F**K WHAT ANYONE THINKS."

And another wrote: "I never knew Ricky was in Depeche Mode."

Ricky has been a household name since he burst on to the scene in the early noughties in The Office.

But he got his first taste of fame when he initially worked in the music industry, attempting a career as a pop star in the 1980s.

He was the singer of the new wave act Seona Dancing and also the manager of the then-unknown band Suede, before ditching music and turning to comedy.

He then launched to international stardom when he co-wrote and starred in the BBC's mockumentary The Office.
