Scots X-Factor star Nicholas McDonald led tributes to one of his fans who passed away after battling a number of serious health problems.

We told how Stephanie Hurrell died on February 11.

The 22-year-old, from Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, spent a lot of her life in and out of hospital suffering from problems with her heart.

Concern grew among medics in recent weeks as Stephanie's condition worsened, sparking fears she may need a liver transplant.

On February 11, her father, Andrew Hurrell shared the heartbreaking news that his daughter had passed away.

Nicholas McDonald, one of Stephanie's favourite artists, took to social media to hail his fan as an 'OG Nickstar' who 'always had a smile on her face'.

The 23-year-old from Wishaw posted on his public Facebook page: "Heaven gained another angel our Stephanie Hurrell.

"She was a massive fan of mine, followed and supported me all over the country.

"You would always see her with a massive smile on her face and the patter to match as well.

"She was always first in the queue at all my gigs and was always a massive support to me.

"I was very blessed to meet Stephanie at the start of my X Factor journey and I can safely say she was an OG nickstar.

"You will sorely be missed Stephanie from all of us.

"We love you angel, RIP."

Inspirational Stephanie was a member of the Scottish Youth Parliament, having represented her home constituency of Inverclyde.

Loved ones paid tribute to a 'special, kind-hearted girl' who was a 'joy to know' in their droves,

One wrote: "Stephanie inspired so many and achieved so much in her life.

"She was truly someone to admire, helped so many people no matter what pain she was feeling.

"God definitely decided to take an amazing angel.

"You’ll always be remembered for your pure heart Steph."

Another posted: "Stephanie, you were a joy to know.

"You would brighten up everyone's day without even trying.

"It was a pleasure to know you."

A third commented: :I can’t believe such a special, kind-hearted girl has been received by the angels.

"You were a beautiful girl inside and out, always made me smile and never missed a gig!

"You touched lots of hearts and will be missed by many."
