Shkodran Mustafi has become the latest Arsenal star to praise Mikel Arteta for the organisation lacking under Unai Emery.

The north Londoners were held at home by Sheffield United and have lost just one in seven since Arteta replaced Emery in December.

Mustafi has claimed the squad is performing better because of a clear tactical plan from their new boss and his ability to get the best out of playmaker Mesut Ozil.

The centre-back said: “It is not tennis when everyone can do whatever they want.

“Just because you have 11 or 18 individually good players does not mean it is going to work.

“It was important to get someone in like Mikel that knows exactly what he wants from each player in each position.

“This is the way we can perform only when someone like him comes in and tells us exactly what he wants and stick to the plan – it makes everything a lot easier.

“For me, Mesut has always been the same. The change that we had with the boss helped him a lot as it helped a lot of other players.

“When the team is performing well, it is easier when everyone knows how we want to play and knows his job.

“You can focus on your job and you don’t have to care about a lot of other things. You can focus on yourself.

“For him, now, because we want to play attacking football, it suits him.

“He enjoys himself and when he is playing like he has in the last few games it helps the team.”

Arteta believes each week is getting harder for his side, after Arsenal were denied a clear penalty which would have put them two-up against Sheffield United.

But the Gunners boss says his side are up for the challenges ahead.

"I am very disappointed with the result but we deserved more because the performance was at the level required," Arteta said.

"A lot of things happen and the challenge is getting bigger and bigger because we are getting a lot of bad surprises every day with some injuries and suspensions.

"But we are up for it whatever we have we have we will try our best every time we get on that pitch and we did that today.’"
