Strathaven Rugby Club have hailed the success of their Return to Rugby event as a wide array of activities took place over the weekend.

The club held a family BBQ last Friday night which was followed up with a day of fun for all ages on Saturday.

Club captain Ian Grant was one of several senior players to make the event and get involved, as people of all ages got in on the act.

There were inflatables for children, which some of the parents even enjoyed, while rugby classes were held. There was an obstacle course with a rugby twist implemented too, which the club took great pride in.

Strathaven’s Girls Group were particularly successful in this, which was a source of great joy for the club during Scottish Women and Girls in Sport Week.

The senior men’s side were due to be in competitive action on Saturday against Helensburgh, but the match was postponed due to an outbreak of Covid-19 in the visitor’s camp.

But Strathaven have been left delighted with the event. A club spokesperson said: “Many thanks to everyone who came along to our family BBQ.
