Teen is carried out of nightclub after being ‘stabbed in the arm with a date rape needle’ on her 18th birthday

DISTURBING CCTV footage shows a teen being carried out of a nightclub after she claimed she was stabbed in the arm with a date rape needle.

Shayna Karniewicz was celebrating her 18th birthday at Universal Bar in Perth on Friday when she claims a man grabbed her and injected her with a syringe.

She has told how she was later found “paralysed” in the club toilets, unable to move or speak and with a puncture mark on her arm.

"I could see everything around me. I could hear everything around me but I could not move a muscle," Shayna said.

She believes she was stabbed with the needle filled with a drug such as Rohypnol or GHB soon after she and her friends arrived at the bar at around 11pm on Friday.

The teen says she felt someone grab her right arm and pull her backwards as she walked through to the toilets.

"I felt a scratch and then a needle shoot in me and I felt burning in my arm," she said.

'BLOOD SPOTS ON MY ARM'

"When I yanked my arm away there was a blood spot."

She collapsed soon after entering the bathroom and was found slumped on the floor after passing out.

CCTV footage from inside the club shows her walking from the entrance to the toilets – with her sister behind her the whole time.

At one point, the teen is seen touching her arm, but the video shows no clear signs of an attack or altercation.

Shayna said her adverse reaction was definitely not from drinking alcohol.

She has epilepsy so barely drinks and her hospital discharge letter showed her blood alcohol at 0.00.

PASSED OUT IN THE BATHROOM

Her sister, Miki, found Shayna in the bathroom after she passed out.

“Shay started to feel numb and her eyes started shaking. The staff and manager came in and called the ambulance,” she wrote.

“We stood her up with her arm around me and as she went to take a step she passed out cold hitting her head on the tiles, not regaining consciousness for 30 seconds.

“We carried her out the back and sat her down where we waited for an ambulance. She had to be held up by two people. One holding her head, one holding her body straight.”

Video footage shows her being carried semi-conscious from the nightclub.

Shayna spent eight hours at Royal Perth Hospital recovering and undergoing tests as doctors tried to find out what had made her apparently suffer temporary paralysis.

One of the Universal Bar owners said they were investigating and would help police.

A spokesman added that the CCTV shows no clear evidence of an attack occurring.
