The Witcher’s Henry Cavill confirms Netflix will kick off season two production ‘very shortly’

HENRY Cavill has updated fans about the future of Netflix fantasy drama The Witcher.

The show has made waves since hitting the streaming service at the end of last year, with the combination of magic, comedy and action proving to be a hit with viewers.

As such, it’s no surprise that bosses are keen to get production for season 2, set for release at the end of the year, underway ASAP.

Cavill took to Instagram to talk about his time away from the series of the festive period, as well as getting ready to return to set.

“Hello everybody, I’m back. I have been enjoying my Christmas break, perhaps a little too much at some points, but now it is back to work,” he told his 10million followers.

“Pre-production will be starting very shortly on Witcher season two,” he confirmed.

He also thanked fans of the show for their support so far and promised insights into his gruelling workout routine to ensure he lived up to Geralt of Rivia’s imposing frame.

“I see that you’ve all enjoyed Witcher season one, thank you very much for that, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ll be giving you updates on here as time goes on,” he went on.

“Of course you ought to expect many more of my thrilling and exciting cardio videos! See you then, have fun, thank you very much.”

“Yes, throw a coin to your Witcher! Great first series mate,” one user replied.

“Couldn’t imagine a better Geralt,” a second chimed in.

While a third chimed in: “Binged the first season in a week and already desperate for the second.”

In other Witcher news, show boss Lauren Hissrich recently took to Reddit to defend the show amid backlash surrounding its timeline.

Elsewhere, the show cut a gruesome battle scene where Geralt was eaten alive and forced to tear his way through a monster’s innards.

The Witcher season 1 is available to stream on Netflix.
