Elton John, Alan Carr, and Dennis Taylor have topped a list – of the most iconic celebrity glasses-wearers of all time, a study has found.
Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp, and Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.Am, rounded out the top five famous faces who wear specs.
And billionaire Bill Gates, as well as U2 frontman Bono, also appeared on the top 10 list.
In fact, a poll of 2,000 Brits found that almost a fifth (18%) believe that wearing glasses often makes a celebrity more memorable – and over half (54%) say they most often pay attention to the style of the frame on famous faces.
And it seems there is no-one more famed for his flashy frames than “Rocket Man” singer, Elton John – who will take to the stage at Glastonbury Festival for the first time in his 50-year career, to headline the iconic Pyramid Stage this Sunday.
Having secured the top spot in the rankings, Specsavers has officially awarded Sir Elton the honorary title of “Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of All Time”.

The study also saw eight in ten describe Elton John’s glasses throughout his musical journey as memorable – with 67% noting the bright frame colours are what sticks in their mind the most.
For 60%, it’s the size that makes them so unforgettable, while 48% are drawn to the sparkles.
And in general, one in ten of those polled say they have been inspired by a specs-wearing celeb when it comes to picking up their next pair.
Nearly half (48%) of those polled believe it used to be “uncool” to wear glasses – but now feel like everyone wants to don the look.
And 21% even stated glasses are now the coolest fashion accessory, the survey, conducted via OnePoll.com, found.
Bianca Swan, from Specsavers, added: “As styles come and go, one thing always remains a constant – and that’s the impact a great pair of specs can make to your look.
“Over the years different styles come in and out of fashion – but for many, they can really be the perfect accessory to complete a look.”
