Transfer news RECAP: Look back on all of Tuesday's rumours and done deals

Rangers have completed the signing of Kemar Roofe as transfer season really hots up.

The former Leeds United striker has become Steven Gerrard's sixth signing of the summer as he joins from Anderlecht on a four-year deal.

However, his arrival is sure to raise further questions over the future of Alfredo Morelos.

The striker is wanted by Lille and the French media are confident that he's agreed terms but so far there has been no agreement on a transfer fee.

And the Ligue 1 club may have to move fast, with West Brom and Serie A side Bologna also said to be weighing-up a move.

Meanwhile midfielder Bongani Zungu looks set to join from Amiens.

Celtic are also in the market for another goalscorer but Neil Lennon isn't interested in a bidding war for Steven Fletcher.

Ivan Toney and Albian Ajeti are also targets but the Hoops boss is desperate for Odsonne Edouard to stay for a historic season.

And what about Jadon Sancho to Manchester United? We'll keep you updated on the potential £110m deal as that saga appears to be reaching a finale.

See how it all unfolded below.

Parkhead chiefs have identified the Swiss striker as a potential signing and have spoken to the Londoners about a possible deal to take him to Glasgow.

Ajeti, however, has taken time out to consider his next move after a failed term with the Hammers following his £8million switch from Basle last summer.

Every player wants to be involved in attacking teams and Manchester City are one of the most attacking in world football.

Pep encourages a really open, aggressive style, which I love, and he is a manager with a proven track record of improving players. To have him overseeing my development is a dream.

City have won plenty of trophies in the last 10 years and I hope I can play a role in continuing that success.

According to the website though the main suitors for Morelos are Sevilla and Brighton, who have been in talks with the player’s entourage.

Footmercato believes this may push Lille into making a new offer to avoid missing out on the striker.

Solskjaer issues Smalling olive branch

(Image: Getty Images)

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted Chris Smalling could be a part of his plans next season, after the centre-back returned from Roma.

The English defender spent the season on loan in Serie A, but a deal couldn’t be found to extend the deal for the Europa League.

And Solskjaer has hinted that a summer move is not necessarily on the cards, as he offered Smalling the chance to prove himself at Old Trafford.

He said:

I think Chris has shown, over his career at Manchester United, how valuable he is for United.

This season was about him being a regular and going to Roma, showing and proving how good a centre-back he is.

I wanted to give Harry (Maguire) and Victor (Lindelof) and maybe Axel (Tuanzebe) a chance and so he found out that it was best for him to go to Roma to play for a year.

Now he’s coming back. Chris has shown this season that he will be valuable so I’ve been speaking to Chris throughout and been delighted with his season.

Solskjaer issues Sancho update

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Manchester United won’t be rushed into the signing of Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils are believed to be close to a £90million deal for the Borussia Dortmund forward, who would become the most expensive English player of all time.

But while talks are said to be advanced, the Old Trafford boss refused to be drawn on the speculation.

Solskjaer said:

This transfer window is a long one, every transfer takes its course.

It is what it is.

At the moment, I have no updates for you, If there’s any news we’ll update you.

Chelsea are the latest club to join Everton in the race for Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon.

According to Marca, the Real left-back could join up at Stamford Bridge on an initial season-long loan deal.

If successful, such a move could see Frank Lampard cool his interest in Leicester’s Ben Chilwell.

Reguilon was voted the best left-back in La Liga last season in another loan at Sevilla but is behind Marcelo and Ferland Mendy in the Bernabeu pecking order.

Itten missed St Gallen’s final game of the season, a 3-1 loss to title winners Young Boys.

The 19-goal striker’s absence was ominous, especially after grabbing a hat-trick the previous game against Neuchatel Xamax.

Hickey to Bologna latest

(Image: SNS)

Bologna sporting director Walter Sabatini has revealed why they are targeting young talent from abroad after Hearts starlet Aaron Hickey was shown round their training complex.

It’s no secret we are looking for a full back and a centre midfielder because the team needs to be reinforced.

From an economic point of view, we feel there is better value in the market outside Italy.

If you want a tip about our next signing, I can tell you he will be a young player from abroad.

We want a player who is comfortable attacking and is also a goal threat. We have improved and expanded our level of scouting and are looking at different markets.

Our aim is to keep our best players and expand the squad with good young players for next season.

Justin Johnson has joined Hamilton Accies on a one-year deal to become Brian Rice’s fifth summer signing.

The 23-year-old, who last featured for Cypriot side Akritas Chlorakas, could make his debut in Saturday’s Premiership clash at home to Ross County.

And the former Dundee United winger is delighted to link up with fellow Mancunian Tunde Owolabi, who signed last week from non-league outfit FC United of Manchester where both men played at youth level.

After signing up at New Douglas Park following a successful spell on trial, Johnson said: “We’re both from Manchester and I played with him [Owolabi] at youth level, so I’m very much familiar with him and it’s good to know we’re on this journey together.

The Hamilton squad we are one family everyone has their own contribution but one thing everyone does is work hard for the club we all motivate each other too yo do good and that’s what the manager asks for every week

Burns leaves Hearts

Bobby Burns will be heading for the exit after the club confirmed he’ll leave to join Barrow on 5 August.

The Northern Ireland international will join the newly promoted English League Two side on a permanent deal.

Kamberi closing in on St Gallen

(Image: SNS)

Florian Kamberi is closing in on a move to Swiss side St Gallen, writes Scott Burns.

But a report that claimed he had rejected a contract from Rangers is believed to be wide of the mark.

The Hibs striker was on loan at Ibrox from January onwards and it was reported Steven Gerrard had offered a deal to make his stay permanent.

But it’s understood there had not been an approach or talks between Rangers and the player since his temporary spell.

Gerrard thought of Kamberi as no more than a squad player while the 25-year-old wanted more first-team assurances.

Morelos 'eyed' by Bologna

(Image: SNS Group)

In-demand Alfredo Morelos is on Bologna’s two-man shortlist as the Serie A side search for added firepower - according to a report.

Newspaper Resto del Carlino state the Colombia international has been on Sinisa Mihajlović’s radar since Filip Helander’s move to Ibrox last summer.

Morelos is also wanted by Lille as the cash-rich Ligue 1 side ponder their next move as it’s understood they are keen to secure a deal for £27m Gent forward Jonathan David.

The player himself fanned flames over his Ibrox future on Monday when he shared before deleting a report asking if he should join Lille.

Bologna are also understood to be keen on Real Sociedad forward Aleksander Isak.

Frear earns Hearts trial

(Image: SNS)

Hearts are running the rule over former Motherwell winger Elliott Frear.

The 29-year-old is out of contract after leaving Forest Green Rovers and has joined the Jambos on their return to pre-season training.

Robbie Neilson is keen to add more quality in the wide areas of his Hearts squad, having lost out to Bristol Rovers in an attempt to bring Sam Nicholson back to Tynecastle

And now the Gorgie gaffer has turned his attention to Frear, who will be assessed as the Championship favorites are put through their paces at Oriam.

With competitive action not beginning until 6 October and the Championship season kick-off 11 days after that, there is no rush for a decision from either party, and Neilson will likely take his time with eight weeks of pre-season still in store for his squad.

Frear, who was also deployed as a left wing-back under Stephen Robinson at Motherwell, would provide a more experienced alternative on the left to Lewis Moore.

Sanchez set for United exit

Alexis Sanchez’ £400k-a-week contract is about to come to an end at Manchester United.

The Chilean international is about to be paid up by the Old Trafford side and allowed to join Inter Milan.

The 31-year-old spent last season at the San Siro.

Ziggy latest

Brian Rice says he has not held discussions with Ziggy Gordon about a return to Hamilton Accies.

Following the end of the A-League season, the defender is now out of contract with the Central Coast Mariners in Australia.

Ziggy done fantastically well for me, but he chose to move on and we chose to move on.

It’s not news that he’s leaving the club because Ziggy is just one of those lads who keeps in touch with you, and I’ve watched most of his games on TV.

I’ve seen him play and message him after the games, but it’s not someone I’ve had a discussion with.

Brian Laudrup is worried about a lack of strength in depth available to Gerrard.

The manager will rely on Kent a lot, I’m sure, and the same goes for Ianis Hagi. But there is a long season ahead and the possibility of injuries is always there.

Do Rangers have the quality in reserve right now ready to come into that area of the team? I think that might be a concern.
