Triple murder suspect arrested in Staffordshire village after third body found

TRIPLE murder suspect Anthony Russell has been arrested in a Staffordshire village this morning.

Anthony Russell, 38, was identified as the lead suspect for the murder of David Williams, 32, and his 58-year-old mother, Julie, in Coventry.

It comes after cops linked him to a third death after a body was found in Leamington Spa, Warks - since identified as a 31-year-old woman.

West Midlands Police said today Russell had been found in a stolen red Ford C-Max car in a country lane about 4am.

They said: "He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery in relation to the car. He will be questioned later today."

Cops had warned that Russell is “extremely dangerous” and “should not be approached”.

They had been searching for a missing woman from Warwickshire and found a body in the town yesterday.

She has now been formally identified as 31-year-old Nichola McGregor from Leamington.

Cops said they have "information which suggests Russell may be connected to the death".

THIRD BODY FOUND

Russell has no fixed address, but was believed to have links to Coventry and it is thought he could have travelled down south, possibly to Plymouth, Devon or Cornwall.

Police were urgently looking for David Williams after his mother, Julie, was found dead at her flat in Riley Square, Coventry on Sunday.

David had been missing for six days before his body was found. The cause of both their deaths is yet to be established.

ACC Mark Payne said: “The deaths of three people in the Midlands region this week have been shocking and devastating for the families involved.

"Our thoughts remain with them as they come to terms with the tragic circumstances of their deaths.

“We are grateful to everyone who has assisted with our appeals for information, but although we have a suspect in custody, our investigation must now establish exactly what has happened.”

A 36-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, has been bailed with conditions.
