Hafiz Wontah Konkoni, Bechem United top marksman has targeted this year’s top scorer award and remains hopeful of staying fit to be able to achieve this stern task.
The former Wa All Stars striker currently leads the 2017/18 Zylofon Cash Premier League (ZCPL) goal scoring chart with eight goals after the first round and has further propelled the Hunters to the ninth spot on the league log.
But the best player for the month of April in the ZCPL believes staying fit in the second round could be very important in his quest to win the goal king race as well as standing the pressure from fans.
Wontah Konkoni told GNA Sports, ''I'm praying I stay fit to be to keep my top form, as I target to score more goals in the second round. Leading the striking role for Bechem United has not been easy considering the pressure that comes along, but am striving hard to manoeuvre mine through tough defences.
The budding striker also revealed how his teammates have been helpful to his course his course of leading the goal king race and heaped praises on the entire playing body.
''My teammates have being very helpful to my course and they have been very support despite the 'inexperience' and am very grateful to everyone one of them,’’ he added.
This year’s top scorer chat has been keenly contested with Konkoni leading the chat with eight goals and his followed by Inter Allies’ Adebayor Zakari who has seven goals, whilst Karela’s Opoku Mensah, Medeama’s Kwame Boateng and Berekum Chelsea Stephen Amankona all with six goals.
