The story behind the National Cathedral, something that has received backlash, from a section of the Ghanaian public is this simple, H. E Nana ambition to become a President had seen him failing twice, one to the ate Atta Mills and also to John Mahama.
Not having plans of giving up this dream, he would work harder, raise much more money and also, take to seeking God’s direction and in doing so same, he was advised by Archbishop Duncan Williams and a fast growing prophet, Prophet Jenkins, to make a promise to God.
Nana Addo, will then decide on building a massive structure, that will be a pace of worship, for all believers in the country and with that as his promise to God, if he wins, the day eventually came and he was elected in a near landslide victory.
Its been almost 5years now, and aside the laying of a foundation stone imported from Israel and the breaking down of newly constructed houses for judges of the superior courts, very little has been done physically on the huge track of land, near the Parliament around Osu.
Controversy wise, it has seen it all. The biggest has been funding, which though its been funded by the tax payers, several fundraising events have been held, to give an impression that, its ordinary people and organizations, that are funding the President’s personal promise to God, but for many believers who believe in this house of worship, they are solidly behind the project.
There is also the conversation of huge cost, comparing it to the just completed National Mosque, which was totally sponsored by the Turkish government, for just $10million US Dollars, whiles that of this cathedral is costing a whopping $100million us Dollars
That was not all, the renowned concept designer and architecture, who drew the eventually approved design of the National Cathedral, has shown his approval for Lesbians and Gay and all other sexual pervasions, the same God of the Bible detests.
This came to light, when Ghana expressed its disgust at the opening of the LGBTQ Office complex in Tesano and the architect, Sir David Adjaye and a few others, based in the UK, had authored a paper that called for all Ghanaians to accept the way of life of everybody, including “Gays and Lesbians.” How God will allow a man, who supports same sex marriage and freedoms, to design his “House of Worship,” may well be a discourse, for the theologians and not a blogger.
Well, fast forward, the Finance Minister, as part of reading the government policies on the economy and its attendant reviews, they are seeking from Parliament, as part of the mid-year hearing on the 2021 Budget, has given a much desired announcement, that many have longed to know about.
According to him, the National Cathedral, “will hopefully be commissioned on 6th of MRCH 2024,” clearly, when H. E Nana Addo is not the President of Ghana and by that time, has officially finished his two term mandate, at least two months earlier.
How God, would accept a man’s promise to build him a “national place of worship and get a world renowned architect to design the structure and later approve of what the Bible tells us, He God detests and for it to be hopefully ready, after the term of office of the President,” can only be made clearer by He God alone, after all, it is only Him, who knows all things.
