FBNBank embarks on banking awareness campaign

Staff of the FBNBank Ghana have embarked on a health walk through some principal streets of East Legon in the Greater Accra Region as part of efforts to help promote financial inclusion.

The walk, which started at 8:30am and closed 11:00am, also created an avenue for the bank to usher businesses, workers as well as residents into the bank’s new branch.

The staff, drawn from the various branches of the bank, walked in groups, as part of its “banking awareness campaign,” from its new branch near the East Legon KFC restaurant through five principal streets of the community to educate people on its offerings.

It was to create awareness within the suburb of the bank’s new branch, the FBNBank East Legon Branch which will be inaugurated in few weeks.

The bank, through its campaign, seeks to become a force in the banking industry by leveraging its robust digital platforms to drive financial inclusion for the un-banked across the country.

New branch

The Managing Director (MD) of the bank, Victor Yaw Asante, in an interview with the media after the three-hour walk, observed that the new branch was the 24th in the bank’s network in Ghana.

He said the branch was specially positioned to meet the needs of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and to offer retail and commercial banking services to its clients.

“We have a new branch which is the 24th outlet of the bank. We are expanding our platforms both digital and brick and mortar outlets.

It is counterproductive to open physical branches because banking has become app led now,” he said.

Mr Asante said FBNBank has some catching up to do in terms of physical branch “and so, we are doing both the digital and physical outlets.

We have invested more into digital platforms and we are also trying to add a few of the physical outlets in order to enhance our operations,” he said.

Extending services

The MD said the bank has over the years invested in extending services to its customers and clients.

He said that had been through a combination of new branches, alternate channels and unique product offerings.

Mr Asante explained that placing a branch at East Legon was a great step forward towards increasing the bank’s significant contribution on several fronts.

“We are very pleased with our efforts so far. East Legon present a very unique preposition for both premium and consumer banking, as well as SMEs and corporate clients.
