Governor Ademola Adeleke Wins At Appeal Court As The Court Set Aside Tribunal Judgement

The appeal court in Abuja has rendered a decision regarding the Osun State governorship election that was being disputed by Governor Ademola Adeleke and his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola, according to reports from Channels Television.

Recall that Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the July 16 governorship election was contested before the electoral petition tribunal in Osun state by the former governor of the state and candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The All Progressives Congress and Oyetola failed to establish their case for over voting against Adeleke, according to the court’s ruling on Friday.

The judgment of the Tribunal was overturned by the three-judge panel, which was presided over by Mohammed Shuaibu.

The Court of Appeal rules that though the tribunal took into account data from the BVAS machine and voter registration, it erred in drawing a decision about over voting based solely on oral testimony.

“Voters must register as the cornerstone of any election, and voters must also register to be central to the 2023 election,” the courts have said.
