LP Dismisses National Chairman’s Suspension

The Labour Party on Friday dismissed the purported suspension of its national chairman, Julius Abure, by its Ward Executive in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, saying the masterminds were being sponsored by opposition parties.

The LP said no reasonable party member would be thinking of suspension when they are pursuing their presidential mandate in the Election Petition Tribunal and all other mandates the Governorship, Senate and House of Representatives that were brazenly stolen.

The National Secretary of LP, Farouk Umar, in a statement, also blamed the purported suspension of Abure as the handiwork of opposition parties plotting to distract the party.

NANS Rejects Interim Govt

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has rejected the call for an interim government by some people and called on the proponents to be sanctioned appropriately. 

The student body also noted that nothing should stop the inauguration of the President-Elect and his team.

NANS Vice President, External Affairs, Comrade Akinteye Afeez, on Friday said the call for such a thing at this moment was uncalled for and unpatriotic.

ICPC Arraigns TASUED Lecturer For Demanding Sex, Money From Student

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned Dr. Balogun Olaniran, a lecturer at the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED).

The Head of the Department of Religious Studies at the institution in Ijagun, Ogun State, is accused of demanding sex and money from a female undergraduate.

Olaniran is on trial before Justice Osinuga of the High Court sitting in Ijebu Ode on one count for violating Section 8(1) (a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

Makinde Renames State-owned Technical University After Predecessor, Ajimobi

Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has renamed the state-owned Technical University (Tech U), Ibadan, after his predecessor, late Abiola Ajimobi.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Makinde announced the change of the institution’s name during its second convocation held at the University Hall, Tech U, on Friday.

According to the governor who is the Visitor to the university, the institution has made tremendous progress from its humble beginnings.
