Haiti - Higher education : 106 Haitian scholarship holders will leave for Italy

106 young Haitians, out of 405 applications received, will soon enter Cassino University of Southern Lazio (UNICAS) in Italy, thanks to a cooperation agreement, signed in May 2022, between Cassino University and the Government of the Republic of Haiti via the Embassy of Haiti in Rome https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-36575-haiti-news-zapping.html

Selected for three-year bachelor's, two-year master's and doctoral programs, these young people will actually begin their studies at the start of the 2023-2024 academic year. In the meantime, they will have to follow, remotely, upgrade sessions, in particular in English, one of the two languages of university education, alongside Italian.

These young people admitted to the University of Cassino and Southern Latium (UNICAS), Italy, were welcomed on Wednesday March 15, 2023, during a ceremony at the Hotel Kinam II (Pétion-ville), in the presence of Hervé Boursiquot, Director General of the National Office for Partnership in Education (ONAPE), representing Minister Nesmy Manigat, Mrs. Yvrose Green, Director of Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and many other personalities.

While emphatically providing salutary advice to scholarship holders, Boursiquot drew their attention to a few essential elements that should frame their period of study, such as : self-construction, representativeness, concentration and academic success. He also reminded them of the obligation to return to Haiti after their studies in order to provide their quality contribution to national recovery.

Speaking by videoconference, Dr. Marco Dell'Isola, Rector of the University of Cassino briefly reviewed the process that led to the selection of this cohort of scholarship students and wished them very good years of studies in Italy.

As for Professors Nistico Sergio Associate Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics and Law and Roberto Poli, Full Professor of the Civil Procedural Law Sector, they took the time to give the scholarship recipients an idea of the academic situation in which they will have to evolve "It's not difficult. We have prepared everything necessary to welcome you. So we are ready to receive you. We are waiting for you," said Professor Nistico Sergio.
