Haiti - Society : National survey on public policies

Citizen Observatory for the Institutionalization of Democracy (OCID) carried out in November and December 2022 a national survey on public policies affecting taxation, trade, industrial production, job creation and the national budget, which it has just publish the results.

In this survey, the OCID wanted to collect from the population their perception of the biggest problem facing the country. The results reveal that insecurity is perceived by the population as the biggest problem (52.5% of respondents), followed by economic problems (35.5% and in third place political problems (11.2%). 2015 to 2022, the population's perception of the biggest problem facing the country has changed. While in 2015 economic problems ranked first, since 2021, insecurity is perceived as the biggest problem. issue.

Moreover, of all the respondents, more than half, or 55.9%, think that there are too many taxes and duties in Haiti. A perception that contrasts with the very low rate of tax pressure in Haiti.

In addition, citizens generally believe that public funds are very badly managed. More than 84.9% of respondents believe that the State does a bad or a very bad management of the money coming from taxes and duties.
