iciHaiti - Fuel Crisis : Dominican soldiers prevent motorcycles from Haiti from entering

Following a serious shortage of fuel in Haiti, the soldiers of the Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT) prevent, along the entire border line, motorcycles coming from Haiti from entering Dominican territory. This measure comes after finding that motorcycle drivers came to buy gasoline in the border provinces and then resell it in Haiti on the black market where the gallon of fuel can be sold between 1,500 and 3,000 Gourdes...

This measure has also been taken to avoid long queues at service stations set up at border points and so that residents of these areas can benefit from the subsidy against rising international fuel prices temporarily put in place by the Dominican government.

In addition, with this measure, CESFRONT seeks to avoid criminal acts that could be committed on motorcycles, in border areas and maintains reinforced border security to counter possible disturbances against this ban.
