iciHaiti - Insecurity : 50% drop in cement exports to Haiti
Commercial activity between the Dominican Republic and Haiti during the months of October and November was strongly affected by acts of violence by armed gangs https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-38298-icihaiti-economy-dominican-exports-to-haiti-affected-by-the-crisis-remain-on-the-rise.html
Félix González, President of the Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers (Adocem), said Dominican cement exports to Haiti have been affected by 50% due to the violence in Haiti.
However, he said that since the beginning of December there has been an improvement in cement exports "We hope that exports will be maintained and that the situation in Haiti will improve, as this will make it possible to develop and maintain commercial relations between the two countries."
González pointed out "Cement is one of the inputs for construction with the lowest price increase in the last 12 months, around 15.9%, less than the increases in other countries in the region" while the consequences of the Russia-Ukrainian conflict caused increases in cement production costs of more than 47% (energy).
