Public invited to have their say on Fintown road upgrade

Plans for roadworks and a new footpath in the village of Fintown have opened to public consultation.

Donegal County Council is inviting members of the public to have their say on the project, which would see new traffic calming measures and a new 1.3km footpath installed on the R250 road.

The council proposes to upgrade the road surface, the road drainage and the footpath between the existing speed limits signs and incorporating the junction to the R252 (An Dúchoraidh).

The purpose of this scheme is to apply traffic calming measures to reduce speed through the village, improve safety and improve the quality of the hardscape environment of Fintown with the addition of some trees/planting, public lighting, improved carparking and signage.

NOTE: Due to Covid 19 restrictions currently in place, viewing of the plans and particulars for this proposed development will only be available for inspection or download at www.donegalcoco.ie under section “Services > Roads Service > Roads Service Public Consultation”. Alternatively you can contact the council’s Customer Service Centre on (074)91 53900 to find out more about the Proposed Works

The project will be carried out in accordance with the drawings and will include:

  1. A new road surface and footpath approximately 1.3km in length.
  2. Traffic calming measures in the provision of a narrower road corridor.
  3. Upgrade to existing drainage regime and street lighting.
  4. Improvement to the hard and soft environment.
  5. Realigned junction at the R252 (Bóthar na Dúchoradh) to improve safety.

The documents will be on display from 9am Monday 26th October to 5pm on Tuesday 24th November 2020.

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and development of the area in which the development is situated may be made in writing to The Co. Secretariat Office, Donegal County Council, Lifford, County Donegal or emailed to gdempsey@donegalcoco.ie before 4pm on Wednesday 9th December 2020.
