Widespread sadness after death of heroic Eoin Brogan

Tributes have been paid to young Eoin Brogan, after he passed away following a long illness.

Eoin passed away on Friday in Crumlin Children’s Hospital, in the arms of his loving family.

He had a rare condition, leading to several long stints in hospital, including a 197 day stay in hospital in Dublin last year before returning to his home in Castlethird, Carrigans earlier this year.

Eoin, a student of Deele College in Raphoe, was also made an Honourary Garda by the Little Blue Heroes foundation in 2021.

Tributes have been paid to Eoin by his primary school, Scoil an Líobh Íosa Carrigans, who said they were “truly heartbroken”.

An Garda Síochána also paid tribute to Eoin on social media this afternoon.

Scoil an Líobh Íosa have announced that they will be closed on Monday morning at 10.15am, to facilitate all those who wish to attend Eoin’s funeral.

Funeral arrangements for Eoin are as follows:

Eoin’s remains are reposing at his home on Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October from 12 noon until 11pm with Rosary both nights at 9pm.

Funeral from there on Monday 2nd October at 10.15am going to St. Baithin’s Church, St. Johnson for 11am Requiem Mass. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family time on the morning of the funeral please.
