Canadian diva Celine Dion has canceled her long-awaited May 31 performance at Tel Aviv’s Bloomfield Stadium, citing a health condition that makes it difficult for her to perform.
Dion, who announced her decision to cancel her entire spring tour in a long, emotional video message to fans, is planning on rescheduling shows across Europe for the spring of 2024, but Israel won’t be included — and nor will Cyprus, Malta, Greece, Romania, France, Italy and Switzerland.
Promoter Shuki Weiss wrote that he was disappointed Dion wouldn’t be performing what would have been the singer’s first concert in Israel.
Dion’s stop in Israel was meant to be part of her Courage World Tour, originally scheduled to take her to 122 cities in North America, Europe and the Middle East over the course of 12 months in 2019 and 2020. Parts of the tour canceled due to the pandemic, including the Israel leg, were rescheduled first to 2021 but then moved to 2023 due to ongoing health issues.
“It’s an operation we’ve been working on for three years,” Weiss wrote when the Israel gig, initially planned as two shows, was first scheduled.

In a five-minute video that Dion posted on social media, she apologized for taking so long to reach out to fans and reiterated how much she misses her audiences and the stage.
Dion shared that she’s dealing with a rare neurological disorder known as Stiff Person Syndrome, which causes spasms and affects her walking and vocal cords.
Dion said she is working hard to treat the syndrome and hopes she’s on the road to recovery.
