Woman attempts to set Tiberias city hall on fire over parking ticket

A woman was arrested earlier in the week after she attempted to set a Tiberias city hall building on fire, apparently over a parking ticket, Israel Police said in a statement Tuesday.

The woman, 30, arrived at the municipal parking division on Sunday and told  staff that she intended to set the place on fire, then left.

Workers called the police, who swiftly arrived at the scene.

As officers were still inside they noticed the woman returning with a bottle of gasoline that she poured over the entrance door to the building. Police rushed out to arrest the woman before she could ignite the accelerant with a lighter found in her possession, the statement said.

A composite video carried by Hebew media showed the woman filling the bottle with gas at a gas station, paying for it in cash, walking up a ramp to the entrance of the parking office, and then splashing the liquid on the door.
