Meet IAS Tukaram Mundhe, who got transferred 19 times in his 18 year career

UPSC aspirants study religiously to become IAS and IPS and join other civil services. Lakhs of candidates appear for the UPSC civil services exam every year, but only a few could crack it. However, challenges do not reduce in their lives after becoming a civil servant, especially for IAS and IPS. Sometimes, they get transferred multiple times due to their honest work. In this article, we will tell you about one such IAS officer who got transferred 19 times in his 18-year career as a civil servant, as per reports. His name is IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe.

He is a 2005 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre. He is known for his honesty and bravery in the bureaucratic circles as well as among the ordinary people. He is currently serving as the secretary of the Marathi language department. His first posting was in Solapur as a Trainee Sub-Collector.

He belongs to Tadsona village in the Beed district of Maharashtra. After his post-graduation from Mumbai, he started preparing for UPSC CSE. Although he could not succeed in the first attempt. But his hard work did not go in vain as he became an IAS officer later.

After school, he used to work in the fields with his father. After his 10th, he went to his relative’s house in Aurangabad for his graduation. In September 2022, he joined as the Commissioner of Health Services and Director, National Health Campaign. In just two months in November 2022, he was transferred. He only got his current posting after five months in May 2023.

He has been Deputy District Magistrate, in Deglur subdivision, CEO of Nagpur Zilla Parishad, Commissioner of Tribal Department, CEO of Washim, CEO of Kalyan, District Magistrate of Jalna, Assistant Commissioner of Sales Tax in Mumbai.
