Andre McDonald convicted of manslaughter in Texas

Andre McDonald, son of Portland businessman Everton "Beachy Stout" McDonald, was on Friday convicted of manslaughter in the death of his wife, Andreen in San Antonio, Texas, four years ago.

After more than ten hours of deliberations the jury returned the guilty verdict on the Jamaican and US Air Force Reserve major, who was originally charged with murder and tampering with evidence. Earlier this week he confessed to killing Andreen, also from Jamaica, and disposing of her body, but attempted to argue he was acting out of self-defense.

Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said he intends to ask the judge to consider the maximum sentence, which for manslaughter is 20 years.

A sentence on the manslaughter charge is expected to be handed down next week. Sentencing testimony will begin on Monday morning.

Everton "Beachy Stout" McDonald is awaiting trial in Jamaica in relation to the deaths of  his two wives.
