Another threat of industrial action at Windalco

There's another threat of industrial action by employees of UC Rusal which operates the bauxite-alumina company Windalco.

The workers, represented by the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees [UCASE] are threatening to go on strike, starting at 6 o'clock on Monday morning as there continues to be no agreement in wage negotiations with the company.

UCASE President Vincent Morrison is claiming that the management of the company has been disrespectful towards the workers.

He told Radio Jamaica News that the offer by the company is not in line with the inflation rate in Jamaica.

A 72-hour strike notice by the Windalco workers a week ago was ccalled off after the intervention of the Ministry of Labour & Social Security, followed by a resumption of negotiations at the local level.

Those talks have broken down once again, leading to the renewed threat of industrial action.
