Curse words echoed in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday after an accused man was informed that he would be remanded in custody for another eight weeks.
Kiswayne Foote was expected to be sentenced for assault occasioning actual bodily harm by Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque, but investigators attached to the Half-Way Tree Criminal Investigations Branch appeared in court with additional charges, following an incident at the station's lock-up earlier this month.
It is alleged that on March 3, Foote asked to use the bathroom and while being assisted to the facilities, he pushed the police against a wall. Foote allegedly ran from the police and climbed the perimeter fencing to the adjoining premises of a nearby high school. He was subsequently apprehended and charged with escaping custody and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Prosecutors informed the senior judge that the case file was incomplete and asked for an adjournment. However, Foote was not pleased with the utterances and pulled down his mask to air his concerns.
"A wappen to dem dawg? S**k unnu mada 'bout 10,000 time! Unnu can charge me fi dat? Me dark, enuh, me friend. A wah? Me a somebody pickney too, enuh," an irate Foote bellowed, before he was hastily removed from the courtroom by police officers. His attorney-at-law Shadae Bailey apologised for his behaviour. Foote was remanded and expected to return to court on May 12.
