Twenty-nine-year-old Westmoreland resident Tenardo Spence was arrested and charged after he was found with an illegal forearm and several rounds of ammunition on Sunday.
According to the Whithorn Police, a joint police/military team was patrolling the area when a Spence was seen acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.
He was searched and one 9mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing 15 9mm rounds of ammunition was removed from his person.
He was arrested and subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
