Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 5pm for some parishes

A Flash Flood Watch will remain in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston & St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon and Manchester until 5pm today.

The Met service says a Trough across Jamaica continues to generate unstable weather conditions across the island and the central Caribbean.

The forecast is for periods of moderate rainfall and thunderstorms to continue across the island of most parishes today.

Additionally, due to the extended period of rainfall, and high ground saturation, landslides are likely.

A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible, and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed, and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
