Grenada: 41 candidates nominated for general election

Grenada's Parliamentary Elections Office says 41 candidates were nominated on Wednesday to contest the June 23 general election, with the two main parties contesting all 15 seats up for grabs.

In addition to the ruling New National Party (NNP) and the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the other parties contesting the election are the Grenada Renaissance Party and the Independent Freedom Party, which are contesting three seats each.

The Grenada United Labour Party, which once dominated politics, is contesting four seats.

Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, who is hoping to win a third consecutive term in office, says he remains confident that his party will win the polls.
