Gunmen open fire at bus conductor in Half-Way-Tree

There was chaos along Half-Way-Tree Road in St. Andrew on Wednesday afternoon when armed thugs opened fire on a bus conductor along the busy thoroughfare, forcing motorists to take evasive action.

The injured conductor has been hospitalised.

Radio Jamaica News was informed that about 10:30 a.m., the bus conductor and his driver stopped at a bus stop in the vicinity the National Bakery to pick up passengers, when a Probox motor car drove up.

It's reported that armed men alighted the vehicle and began firing at the conductor, hitting him several times.

The wounded man ran along Central Road but was chased by the hoodlums.

The gunmen fired several more shots at him then fled.

The conductor collapsed from his injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

A search has been launched for the gunmen.
