Chief Technical Director of the Financial Investigations Division (FID), Selvin Hay, says adequate enforcement of the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) requires collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
He said the FID has already signed various agreements to facilitate this inter-agency work.
"The MOUs will intensify the country's scope in conducting more comprehensive financial investigations," he said, adding that the focus is timely.
"Whilst law enforcement can apply POCA – and we have been doing so – in a reactive way, we need to be more proactive in the use," Mr. Hay admitted.
He was speaking Wednesday at a conference organised by the Financial Investigations Division on widening the use of the Proceeds of Crime Act through collaboration.
