January 2024 trial date set for woman accused of killing her child's father

A St. James woman, accused of killing her child's father 12 years ago, is to go on trial on January 15, next year.

The trial date was set when Crystal Phillips appeared in the Circuit Court on Monday.

Her bail was extended.

Ms Phillips was 17 years old when she reportedly stabbed 23-year-old Raniel Gray at his house in Mount Salem on November 6, 2011.

Reports are about 12:30 that morning, Ms Phillips showed up at Gray's house and got into an argument with his mother.

It was further reported that Gray arrived home and was about to enter his room when he was blocked by Ms Phillips.

He managed to get inside the room and was followed by Ms Phillips.

Shortly after Gray was heard calling for help and Ms Phillips was seen fleeing the room with a knife in her hand.

Gray died at Cornwall Regional Hospital from multiple stab wounds.

Following investigations, Ms Phillips was taken into custody and charged.
