Man who offered $150,000 bribe to police remanded

By Racquel Porter

A man who offered a police officer $150,000 to escape prosecution was further remanded on Thursday following a part-heard bail application.

Omare Grant is charged with offering money or other benefits to a public servant for an act or omission in public office.

Following a bail application by Mr. Grant's attorney, Shadae Bailey, Parish Court Judge Lori-Anne Cole Montague adjourned the matter until March 23, for the address of the accused to be verified.

It is alleged that the 37-year-old mechanic, who was a person of interest in relation to robbery, contacted the police officer and offered him money.

The court was told that Mr. Grant was arrested and charged when he attempted to hand the money over to the cop.
