NAJ condemns murder of nurse on Maxfield Avenue

By Clinton McGregor

The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) has condemned Wednesday night's murder of a nurse at a bar on Maxfield Avenue in St. Andrew.

Her companion was injured in the attack.

NAJ President Patsy Edwards Henry says she is saddened by the death of Ms Douglas.

While she had not yet confirmed that Ms Douglas was a member of the NAJ, she admitted that even if the woman is not a registerd nurse, the group condemns "any act of violence against any category of worker and any woman".

Mrs Edwards Henry offered condolences to the family of Ms Douglas as well as her friends and coworkers.

Marlon Kerr, a 44-year-old bearer of Tivoli Gardens, was also killed in the incident.

He is said to have been the target.
