NWA says COVID-19 stalled improvement work on Hagley Park Road

By Warren Bertram

The National Works Agency has said the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the delay in the completion of the Hagley Park Road Improvement project in St. Andrew.

Speaking Sunday on Radio Jamaica's That's A Rap, NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw said the agency has been in discussions with the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, which has oversight for the project.

"The situation is that the Ministry of Economic Growth has taken it on as a responsibility but COVID came in and we were not able to do quite a bit of things; and that's one of the issues that remain unresolved, and the ministry has given a commitment," said Mr. Shaw.

He was responding to a question about the lack of street furniture and greenery that had been proposed in the plan for the road improvement project.
