Paulwell to return to court on December 7 in firearm case

By Warren Blake

Opposition Member of Parliament Phillip Paulwell is scheduled to return to the St. Andrew Parish Court on December 7 to answer charges relating to the loss of his licensed firearm in July.

Mr. Paulwell's bail was extended Tuesday after the court was told that the file is incomplete.

Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn had ruled that the MP should be charged with criminal negligence after his licensed firearm was stolen from his vehicle in St. Andrew.

It's reported that, sometime in July, Mr. Paulwell filed a report with the police that thieves broke into his vehicle and stole his licensed firearm and several rounds of ammunition.

It's understood that while Mr. Paulwell was at a property in St. Andrew, men travelling in a Toyota Probox motor vehicle reportedly smashed the back glass to his vehicle and removed a pouch with the firearm.
