Uphell Purcell, councillor for the York Town division in Clarendon South West, has admitted to being in a leaked sex video that has now gone viral.
Purcell, a member of the People’s National Party (PNP), said his ‘performance’ was for a adult female. He said that he is the victim of a crime and has reported the matter to the police’s cybercrime unit.
The less than two-minute video with the nude politician, began circulating less than a week ago.
Purcell said he was shocked that the video has been released into the public domain. He said that his privacy was violated, and he is hopeful for a full resolution to the matter.
In the meantime, Purcell is dismissing claims that he has resigned from the PNP and from his divisional and constituency roles. "That's a lie!," he told THE STAR.
He acknowledged, however, that he has been called into meetings by party functionaries to discuss the issue.
As whether he harbours plans to resign from his public offices, Purcell said, "I cannot say."
Purcell has been the councillor for the York Town division since 1998.
