Police manhunt for gunmen who went on robbery spree in Manchester

By Prince Moore

The police have launched a manhunt for gunmen who went on a robbery spree in Crosskeys, South Manchester on Wednesday afternoon.

The gunmen robbed a bar, gas station, restaurant and Cashpot outlet in the area sometime after 3 o'clock.

The gunmen were challenged by a licensed firearm holder and a shootout ensued.

One of the men is believed to have been shot by the licensed firearm holder, who was also hit during the exchange of gunfire.

He was admitted to hospital.

Paulette Richmond, a resident of Crosskeys, expressed concern about the incident in the usually quiet community.

"The crime in the country has gone out of hand, but when it comes to my own community, right at my doorsteps, it’s sad. It’s really bad. I feel disgruntled right now. I mean, if it wasn’t for the help of a businessman, who is a licensed firearm holder, persons would have been dead. It could have been worse," she lamented.

Wednesday's robbery is the second such incident in Manchester over a two-day period.
