Police seize illegal firearms in St Andrew, St Elizabeth

As members of the police continue to ramp up their operations, two police divisions are reporting the seizure of illegal firearms and ammunition. 

The first firearm was taken by the Constant Spring Police, who found a nine milli-metre Browning pistol fitted with a magazine containing twelve rounds of ammunition in Manor Park, St Andrew on Tuesday.

It is reported that about 5:00 p.m., lawmen acting on information stopped a grey Toyota Axio motorcar and conducted a search.

The firearm and ammunition were found in bag inside the vehicle. The two occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody pending further investigations.

The second find comes from the St Elizabeth Police.

A P80 nine milli-metre pistol and eight rounds of ammunition were seized during a Vehicle Check Point operation on Oxford main road in the parish, also on Tuesday.

According to the Black River police, about 1:00 p.m., lawmen were conducting a spot check in the area, when a grey Toyota Corolla was stopped and searched.

The firearm and ammunition were removed from the vehicle and the driver was taken into custody. Investigations continue
