Police to enforce ban on heavy-duty vehicles along Jimmy Cliff Boulevard

By Halshane Burke

There will be a renewed push to enforce the ban on trucks and articulated vehicles on Jimmy Cliff Boulevard in St. James.

The National Works Agency says signs have been re-erected to remind the motoring public that heavy duty vehicles are not allowed along that section of the corridor better known as "Bottom Road".

NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw says though the ban was always in effect, the measure was not being enforced.

Mr. Shaw says with the new Road Traffic Act now in effect, motorists would do well to observe the ban.

"The police are going to be on the lookout and so you run the risk of being fined some big money for disobeying," he warned.

"You're expected to use Queen's Drive if you're heading from downtown Montego Bay to the Sangster International Airport and beyond, and vice versa, of course," Mr. Shaw noted.

He was speaking recently on the Morning Agenda on Power 106.
