Some Government employees still to receive 2022 minimum wage increase

The President of the Jamaica Civil Service Association, Oneil Grant, has disclosed that some government employees are yet to receive the increase in minimum wage which took effect in 2022.

Mr Grant, speaking Sunday on Radio Jamaica's That's A Rap, said although the government is one of the largest employers of minimum wage workers, there is a delay in the movement of people to the new rate of pay implemented last year.

Despite that experience, Mr Grant said he doesn't expect the same delay to occur with the announced minimum wage increase, set to take effect June 1 this year.

He is suggesting that workers included in the new classifications under the public sector compensation reform programme will enjoy the new wage when it is implemented.
