Public sector teachers are continuing their protest on Friday even as a meeting is being held at the Ministry of Labour with the Jamaica Teachers' Association aimed at preventing further strike action.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that teachers from St. Elizabeth and Manchester are to march from Manchester High School to the Ministry of Education's Region 5 office Friday morning.
Teachers in Westmoreland, St. Elizabeth, Manchester, Clarendon, St. Catherine Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Thomas kicked off their planned two-day strike action on Thursday following a call to action by JTA President La Sonja Harrison.
More protests are planned for next week if an agreement is not reached.
The teachers are upset that the Ministry of Finance has ignored their concerns over the anomalies and discrepancies in their pay under the compensation review.
