West Kingston tense after double murder in Hannah Town

By Clinton McGregor

Sections of Hannah Town in West Kingston are tense following the fatal shooting of two men this morning.

The deceased are 28-year-old Lance Thompson, otherwise called "Jah Jah", of Upper Rose Lane, and 30-year-old Jevon Ferguson, otherwise called "Pim Pim", of Upper Oxford Street.

The police say about 9:40 a.m., Mr. Thompson and Mr. Ferguson were standing along Upper Oxford Street in Hannah Town, when a Toyota Probox motor car with several men aboard drove up.

Men alighted the vehicle and opened fire, hitting the two.

They were later pronounced dead at hospital.

Nearly 30 spent shells were found at the scene.

Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps, head of the Kingston Western Police Division, told Radio Jamaica News that the police have identified two of the suspects and are hoping to make an early breakthrough in the case.

The West Kingston Police has been trying to quell growing gang violence in the division over the last several weeks.

Several people have been killed and others injured in the upsurge of violence.
