Women plead guilty to selling fake lottery tickets

Two Corporate Area women will know their fate next month when they are to be sentenced for selling fraudulent lottery tickets and being in possession of more than $1 million.

Danielle Brown and Melicia Haspaul pleaded guilty to possession of criminal property and possession of selling illegal lottery tickets. It was shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday that on August 31, investigators found Brown and Haspaul in possession of the fraudulent tickets as well as cash totalling $1,420,000 and US$394 (approximately J$60,500).

The matter, however, was adjourned until October 25, giving time for presiding Judge Venise Blackstock-Murray and prosecutors to impose the appropriate sentence of the court.
